Keeping the Arts Alive in Our Community

The Battell Arts Foundation passionately encourages participation in the arts as a meaningful way of engaging with creativity and making sense of the world around us. Through various programs and initiatives, it aims to foster a deeper appreciation for artistic expression while connecting individuals to their communities.

The Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization serving the local communities of Norfolk and Colebrook, Connecticut.  We are completely funded by individual donors from the community.

Engaging With Our Community

The Battell Arts Foundation sponsors individuals, organizations, and informal groups to bring the visual, performing, and literary arts to northwestern Connecticut.  BAF has supported the Yale University summer programs in art and music at Norfolk, sponsored local school activities ranging from drama workshops to museum visits, and provided needed funding for individual students pursuing education and participation in the arts.

Grants

With the funds available from our donors, BAF provides grants to organizations, schools, and students to support participation in or exposure to the arts. We can provide money for tuition, supplies, honoraria, and other expenses.  In addition to our advertised semi-annual scholarship cycle, we accept grant applications on a rolling basis.

Support Our Mission

The Battell Arts Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit which depends upon a yearly donation cycle. We have no standing endowment and are only able to fund initiatives to extent of the generosity of our supporters. We are grateful for the support of our donors and welcome any and all donations to the important work of keeping the arts alive in our community.

“Art is my therapy, my guidance, my creative outlet to process this hectic world before me.”
